She's Only 17

Well she's 17 until Tuesday. I only know this because like 50 people over the weekend have told me once Hayden Panettiere was annouced as a guest. Of course I get a freaky picture with her standing next to Peter Adkison. Not really sure what she has to do with the Bella Sara booth but I'm also not questioning a gift from God at this show full of 99% men when I've been away from my wife for 12 days.

Of course, as a reminder we did get a demo or two :)

Nice Ride

I so missed my Mustang last week. I had to drive a huge Lincoln Town Car, wtf man that thing was a boat. At San Diego Comic-Con I did find a few alternatives to the boat town car. I love Batman but I think I'd take the Mach 5.

Good bye San Diego, see you next year

This is such a bittersweet show. It is so much work, so expensive, on the other side of the country, all sorts of random things that appear bad. But I absolutely love the show. There is so many good things to see and do, I wouldn't want to miss it if I could avoid it. See you next year San Diego.

Done!

We're done with San Diego Comic-Con. What a great and tiring show. This is the first time since I left Decipher that I broke down this show, I forgot how much waiting was involved. I will post a complete after the show write up sometime this week. Less than two weeks until our next show, Wizard World Chicago. I doubt I'll see as many celebrities much less talk to them like I did at this show. It was pretty cool to talk to Ali Larter, Levar Burton, some guy from Kyle XY, and Andre 3000. I love Comic-Con!

The Simpsons San Diego Comic-Con Style

Who knows who the person is in the picture. But the Simpsons were walking around SDCC all week to promote The Simpson's Movie. They stopped and had a huge queue line for pictures, I just grabbed one.

There is quite a few hotties at San Diego Comic-Con. From the before mentioned Jessica Alba to Hayden Panettiere and Ali Larter to just people who dress up. Some of them even stopped by our booth.

Masi Oka and more!

I know that isn't Masi Oka but I can't figure out how to get pictures from my phone to my computer at this late hour. I have plenty of other pictures to upload but I am exhausted and ready to crash.

I will tell the Masi Oka story later. Unlike Jessica Alba I actually got to talk to Masi, well for about 5 seconds.

Our booth at San Diego Comic-Con is apparently near the celebrity entrance to the floor. Most celebrities do not even attempt to visit the show floor. However Jessica Alba does. There was a huge crowd of security and people when she came out onto the floor and most people didn't know who she was, because she is only like 5 foot flat and you couldn't see her.

On the way back however, you definitely could tell it was her. Man is she attractive. Of course I was in the middle of a demo to Dr. Heimlich with my camera in my bag, no picture for me. However I was able to find this nice piece of eye candy on the internet, enjoy!

Thursday San Diego Comic-Con Update

Some more pictures from Thursday at San Diego Comic-Con. I didn't get to see stuff as much today as I could on other days, stupid work getting in the way. The one Batman was huge and the Dark Knight Batman is almost a must own. I know the Little One and Pretty Bird will like the Emily the Strange picture.

Man I love this show, what an over-the-top experience. In addition the best geek show in the world we have great weather, incredible seafood, real Mexican food (featuring my favorite, corn tortillas), and some pretty good eye candy. I will post some pictures here and on my 24 TCG blog.

This is for Pretty Bird. It is about a 1/3 or 1/4 scale Black Pearl. Pretty cool.

Dragon*Con '06 done, up next Steelers Football!

Dragon*Con was fun as usual. Not as productive for the company as I would have liked but it was still okay. We sold a good bit of stuff and had plenty of people stop by, we just didn’t sell as much as I wanted to. It was also my first Dragon*Con since 1994 without Pretty Bird, that was a little odd. It was great to see some old friends, some of which I only get to see once a year at Dragon*Con. There was five (six if you count Jim Colson) ex-Decipher people there, still amazes me. It wasn’t a lack of intelligence or hard work that doomed it.

I leave for Pittsburgh on Thursday, I’m so excited. I’m of course a little less excited since I’m pretty sure the Steelers are going to lose without Ben. I think the Steelers are a very solid, very young team but the Roethlisberger guy is pretty damn good. Either way my mom and I are going to have a good time.

Back!

Well I'm back in the eastern part of the US and back at work. The past three weeks have been brutal in terms of working in the office and then traveling to Anaheim for Anime Expo. I actually leave a week from today for another trip to the west coast, first Anaheim for a few days with the family and then San Diego Comic-Con. Our office shifted some duties around and I now handle all shows for our office. That is about 12 to 14 shows a year. Normally not a huge deal but in July/August there is seven of them, lots of fun.

Well I might expand on what has been happening later on but now back to work :)

Hardest Part of the Day

As far back as I could remember I viewed getting up as the hardest part of the day, at least as far back as high school. Now with my back/neck a little hurt, for whatever reason, making sleep a tad bit more difficult, 5:30am is really early. I don't leave the house until 6:30/6:40 so I don't have to get up until 6ish. I did learn a long time ago however that a relaxed Trevor is a happy Trevor. Taking my time getting ready, eating breakfast, watching SportsCenter, all makes my day go much better. I even have time to do a little morning workout once I decide to start working out. I'm not in good shape, well round is a shape, so it will happen eventually. Now onto other random thoughts.

• Closed Interstates Suck. This is the third time I've been on an interstate somewhere I wasn't from. Once on vacation and twice for work. I was staying about 30 minutes outside of Boston this past weekend, left an hour before I had to be at the convention. Well 4 hours later I got to the show. It just isn't a lot of fun to have a sense of being lost on some sideroad because the main road is closed. The F150 truck ahead of me was my new buddy, where he went I went. Good thing he wanted back on the interstate as well.
• X-Men 3 was Blah. I enjoyed it, I will watch it again, and probably own it. I think I will probably watch it more than X-Men 1. It wasn't very good however. I isn't the first bad movie that I like and probably won't be the last. Also depsite saying it was the last official team X-Men (Wolverine and Magneto solo projects aside) movie I think $120,000,000 in 4 days will change that.
• Stupid Mets won't lose. Maybe they don't go away this year. I think the Braves could make a run at the division or even the wild card. With that bullpen however I don't the Braves chances in the playoffs, ick.
• My little one has finished her first year of school. Does that mean I'm now an adult or was that a few years ago. Hopefully that doesn't mean I have to stop playing games at work.

Back from California

Well JDub and I are back from Los Angeles and GenCon So Cal. It was a pretty good trip and I’m sure I will blog about it this week. Good to be home.

Game Time

I leave for Los Angeles in about 12 hours or so. I'm really torn about travel for work. In one regard I really do love to travel. I love to see different parts of the country or world. Traveling for work is even better, everything is paid for by the company. I love doing the convention thing also, it is something I've paid my own money to do, I just like the geek thing. The convention thing also provides the chance to show off the the public, it is game time. I work all year planning events like these, now I get to go meet the public and see them enjoy something I've worked really hard to plan and create.

The downside to work travel is that I get to spend less time with my family. I really don't like to leave my family for long periods of time. I've worked away from home on three different jobs now, it just doesn't get any easier. They both understand it and we all are to the point where it is just a part of life. It is really nice that I travel just enough to earn travel rewards equal to a nice trip once a year or so. It isn't enough travel however to make me miss that much time, I only take about ten trips a year or so, not that much time away from home.

This trip is to GenCon So Cal, not really the best show of them all but it is decent show. GenCon runs a solid show, they aren't mismanaged or anything and it is in Anaheim, can't beat that.

This show is also just JDub and I in terms of company employees. We do have the big three (as they're called around the office) volunteers to make life that much easier on us. Traveling with JDub is lots of fun, we work really well together and have a good time at shows. There is a great story about the last time we were the only two traveling.

JDub, Triple G, and I were going out to dinner in Chicago, there was a highly recommended deep dish place and we were all excited about checking it out. JDub and I were on one end of the hallway with Triple G's room on the other. I walk down to get Triple G but JDub either forgot something in our room or was just running late. So I'm about 30 feet ahead of JDub and have already knocked on Triple G's door when JDub decides to do his brilliant maneuver. JDub decides to run down the hallway, for whatever reason all three of us are still wondering including JDub himself. He is taking huge steps, making all sorts of noise running down the hall. Triple G can even hear him in his room and hurries to see what the noise was. Well in mid-stride poor JDub loses his shoe. That of course causes JDub to lose his balance, fall, and start to roll. The cheap carpet in the hallway of the Double Tree mixed with the fact he was running actually causes JDub some injuries. Despite feeling bad for JDub's misfortune, Triple G and I can't stop laughing, it was just damn funny. Picture JDub rolling on the ground, stumbling to get up, and his shoe 10 feet behind him, I'm even laughing writing about it.

Gotta love conventions. If you can make it to GenCon SoCal I hope to see you there, maybe we can get a game in.
