End of the Month

I figured I'd end the month and the week's apparent Leia theme with a picture of Rachel (Jennifer Aniston) as Slave Leia. The quality is horrible but it was a great episode.

Awesomeness

Man I love me some How I Met Your Mother.

More Slave Leia

Yes the Deal or No Deal hotties were very hot dressed up as Slave Leia. That and they looked incredible in HD.

I was searching for a picture of the Deal hotties in the slave get up but I was distracted by this picture of Kristen Bell. I'd seen more than a few images of her dressed up as Slave Leia in the movie Fanboys. All I have to say is that I approve.

My question is how is this movie not released yet? It should be a crime to keep a movie with images like that from the public. Stupid Weinsteins and their fight over something or other. I want my Slave Leia!

At least they didn't lose ground

Having the day off today at least prevented the Braves from losing another game. I'd say it could have prevented them from getting someone else hurt but players get hurt on off days all the time. Stupid ups and downs of baseball.

Oh Hell Yeah!

Now that is a way to get me to watch a reality show.

Stupids Mets

I guess it was too much to hope that the Braves wouldn't lose to the Mets all year. I guess they did have issues missing three starters today and having Hudson pulled after 3 innings. I really hope that Hudson isn't actually that hurt but this is the second time in three starts. I think he's probably hurt.

RB and WR

So the Steelers need help at OL, DL, and CB. They have a pretty good core of WR and sent their starting RB to the Pro Bowl last year. What do they draft, a RB and a WR with their first two picks. Granted I think the RB is a great talent or so the expects say. The WR is apparently good but was injured which is why he fell to the late second. We'll see how it works in a year or two.

404 Left

There are 404 total delegates left for the Democratic Party. Female Not Obama needs 435 delegates to receive the nomination. And people wonder why the real Obama isn't even paying her attention and is focusing on McCain.

Bring on the Mets

I'm tired of throwing out random comments about the Braves but I'm also tired of looking at the Hooters girls on the post below. Neither one of them are very attractive although both have huge fake boobs.

Tonight opens a series against the Mets. I like playing the Mets if only because win or lose it seems the Braves usually play them pretty well. We'll see how this weekend goes.

Hooters Bus

This is an inside joke for Pretty Bird about Chipper and a bus to Hooters. It isn't that inside of a joke but Pretty Bird and I keep it going and get a nice laugh about it.

Anyway as I was surfing for a picture of Chipper Jones this picture came up on the first page. All I did was type Chipper Jones into google and select images. I guess it sure isn't that much of an inside joke at all.

Happy Birthday Chipper

Two for two with a HR, not a bad start for your birthday. Oh yeah, a 6-1 lead isn't a bad start either.

Good Looking Scrubs

The Braves sure have made the past two pitchers look good even though they were scrubs. Tis life I guess.

Code Word

I'm going to have to come up with a code name for Hillary Clinton that way I get less ads for her on my blog. This is the third time I've seen an ad for her on my blog. Any suggestions for a nice code name?

Bittersweet Evening

It was sweet because Smoltz looked good. He's my mom's all-time favorite Brave and he's close to mine. He was so happy he almost looked like he was crying (we all know there is no crying in baseball). It was great. Of course the Braves lost. In fact after blowing up in the ninth inning they plain got their ass kicked.

That and Hillary Clinton won the Pennsylvania primary.

Well it worked before...well maybe not

All this talk about the key states for democrats being the reason Clinton is a better choice than Obama.

First off democrats are going to carry states like NJ, NY, CA no matter who is the candidate.

Second and more importantly they keep putting it into context of the last two elections. Well Clinton is carrying the states that democrats need to carry based on the last two elections or whatever random crap they want saw. This just in, the democrats didn't win the last two elections. I'd think you need a new strategy but maybe that's just me.

I'd probably be 53% republican and 47% democrat but the fact the democrats can't get their head out of their ass is the reason I'm a republican. Its almost like they like losing or something.

Four To Go

Tonight John Smoltz enters the game with 2996 strike outs. Well actually he's got 3190 Ks but that counts his post season. Sure nice round numbers are no real different than other numbers but they sure look better. I've always enjoyed watching Smoltz pitch and tonight should be no different. Go Braves.

No GTS

This is the first GTS since '02 that I won't be out. It seems like a lifetime ago when I wasn't involved with games.

A sweep, a streak, and .500

A real sweep (as opposed to the mini-sweep of the Mets two weeks ago), an actual winning streak of four games, and the Braves are back at .500. It would be nice if they would keep it up and then be over .500. Still having you're three best relievers (Gonzalez, Soriano, and Moylan) and four fifths of your starting rotation (Smoltz, Glavine, James, and Hampton) on the DL within the first 18 games of the season and still be only 2 games out of first and at .500 isn't bad. I expected issues out of the starting rotation, you don't put injury risk pitchers and older pitchers as your staff, but having bullpen injury issues wasn't expected.

We'll see how the next few weeks go.

Back on the Interwebs!

Our DSL decided to take a few days off. Mix that with my neighbor actually making his wireless network secure and I was out of the internet for two days! But I'm back online. I didn't even know what channel to find weather or news. How did people live with the internet.

The MVP is clear

John Smoltz for MVP. Sure pitchers don't and sure the Braves are closer to last place than first place. But the guys pitching with a bum shoulder and is 3-0 with an ERA under one and is striking people out like crazy. Too bad most of the rest of the team is sucking it up.

They just suck

The Braves just suck.

A Brand New Drinking Game

Anytime Hillary Clinton says...
"during the 90's"
"during my husband's" or "the Clinton administration"
"visit my website" or "hillaryclinton.com"

You'd be drunk pretty quick. I make myself chuckle. What a fucking joke of a debate. They spent the first 45 minutes talking about media created non-issues. Then when they actually do talk about real issues they aren't allowed to respond to each other, that isn't a debate. My favorite was when Hillary implied that anyone made less than 250k was middle class. I guess I'll be middle class for a long time.

Two Months

Only two months until my Vegas vacation. Its going to be a great vacation, I'm going to get a Vegas wife! I'll have more details as I finalize them.

Shutout

Shutout by the Marlins means you stink. Man the Braves are way too erratic for me this early in the season.

No More Injuries

Yet another Braves pitcher goes on the DL. At this rate they're going to start calling up people from the stands to get outs. Might be a long summer.

The First Time

For the first time in over five years I went to work and I wasn't working in the hobby game industry. I'll update and ramble more about it later.

Sunday, April 13, 2008

I take it back

Having Glavine leave in the first with the bases loaded, one in, and nobody out isn't a great start to the game. Not only does it really hurt my fantasy team but having the Braves down 4-0 in the 3rd isn't helping my favorite team. Not a good baseball day.

Two in a row

They actually won two in a row. With Glavine on the mound things could be good for an actual three game sweep. The Nationals are terrible and the Braves can be good when they try. Of course the Braves can be horrible when they try as well. We'll see how today's goes.

Not Long Enough

Sometimes a week off from work and having no plans just isn't long enough. I really do wish I didn't have to go back to work on Monday. But it was a pretty good vacation. We went to Georgia to see the family, went to Six Flags, made salsa, painted, and just a relaxing time. Too bad I'll have to work five days next week.

Google Wedsnedays

Windows Vista has gadgets because everyone loves OSX's widgets. Google desktop has their own version of gadgets which is what I use. They do need to proofread their spelling just a little bit though.

No More

No more Braves posts until they win two in a row. Which with the way they are playing might mean this is my last Braves post until next season. Stupid Braves.

Painting Time

Today we're working on one finishing one of our project rooms so we can buy furniture for it. Man the 22 year old me wouldn't recognize the 32 year old me. Painting and buying furniture, wtf yo. Seriously though, we're really excited about how the room will turn out. Maybe I'll take pictures and post them.

Wednesday, April 9, 2008

Good timing

Not being able to watch the Braves games the past two nights has helped my stress level, I think. Their defense and parts of their bullpen are just really bad. Some days I think it will be a fun summer and other days I think it could be a long one. Today is one of the days I think it could be a long summer.

Tuesday, April 8, 2008

Stupid Denver

I know a good bit of my friends live in Denver but man I hate baseball games in Colorado. You can never tell when something silly is going to happen. Still the Braves looked pretty good the last few games and hopefully they can keep that up.

Six Flags over Georgia

I haven't been to Six Flags in nine years so we're all off to ride some rides and see the theme park I used to go to about four or five times a year. Pretty Bird and I love rollar coasters and Six Flags is a great place for them. The Little One is also a fan of rollar coasters and she's now tall enough to ride all of the big ones so she's really excited. It should be a great afternoon.

Mini-Trip

With a nice week off of work we're taking a little mini-vacation. It isn't the best planned trip we've ever taken but it should be a nice few days of leisure. I might post, I might not, who knows. See everyone Wednesday evening. In the meantime Go Braves!

Blue & Green

I'm not sure if people still use a blue screen at all or all special effects are done with a green screen. Either way with the HD revolution movies and TV shows are doing to have to do a lot more work to get the b/g screen stuff to look seamless. We watched Return of the King last night in HD and it looked incredible except for some moments when it was obvious there was some green screen work. I guess it will just be an excuse for the movie studios to redo movies twice on HD, one for the regular blu-ray purchase and another for the BR purchase that was redone to make it seamless.

Too expensive

Blu Ray is still too expensive and it shouldn't be. It shouldn't be that expensive because I want to be able to watch movies like the Lord of the Rings trilogy in HD. Man it looks so good on TNT right now.

How Sweep It Is

A nice hand broom to go with the mini-sweep. I'll take a two game series sweep anytime against the Mets.

Johan Santana vs. John Smoltz

What a pitching match up. Smoltz is usually not so good in his first start of the year plus he's a little past his prime. Johan however is the best pitcher in baseball. It should make for a good afternoon watching baseball. That is a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Saturday, April 5, 2008

Boring

Man being off work and having the family out of town is really boring. I guess I should have planned my time better. I didn't help that despite the win the Braves game was a rather boring watch on TV, that made the day somewhat drag on. Tis life I guess, the family returns tomorrow around lunch time.

Rain Out

The Braves rain out made for a boring night, minus the return of Battlestar Galactica of course. It did really help the Braves pitching staff though which is good. Hopefully it will help the Braves bullpen throughout the remaining series with the Mets.

Friday, April 4, 2008

Man we frakkin missed you

Change can be good

Who knows if my current change will be good or not. I'm not sure that it is good but I'll have a week's worth of vacation to get used to the idea. I'll be less cryptic later but right now I think it will be good, at least for the short term.

Thursday, April 3, 2008

Stupid Braves

Like I wrote earlier a win against the Pirates should only count for 1/2 a win. I also think a loss against the Pirates should count as two losses. Either way the Braves aren't looking very good. Actually their D has cost them two games now so it isn't that bad but 1-3 with the Mets coming up isn't very good.

Welcome Back Hampton

Oh wait, you aren't back. I can't believe people actually expected you to contribute this season. Stupid Mike Hampton.

RIP

Three plus years and countless miles around the country and my laptop died today. I'll work on trying to fix it but it appears to be either the power supply or the motherboard, both aren't easy to fix on a laptop. It did take a lot of abuse at quite a few conventions and sales trips so it did a great job. At least it is 2008 and now 1998 and computers are cheap. In fact we have two other computers up and running in the house so it isn't a big deal at all. Of course traveling might be difficult but it looks like I'll do less of that upcoming.

A Win!

So that is what a win feels like. Granted beating the Pirates should probably only grant your team 1/2 a win but I'm sure the Braves will take a win. Only 159 more to go!

Still not the Seahawks

From the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
Playoff flag that wasn't thrown

Mike Pereira, the NFL's head of officiating, admitted yesterday that his crew working the Steelers-Jaguars playoff game erred in not calling a holding penalty against Jacksonville on a crucial play that allowed the Jaguars to kick the winning field goal.

Quarterback David Garrard scrambled on fourth-and-2 from the Steelers 43 and made the first down. Three plays later, Josh Scobee kicked a field goal, giving the Jaguars a 31-29 victory. Several Steelers players complained there was blatant holding on Garrard's run. Nearly three months later, Pereira agreed with them.

The NFL never admitted a mistake during Super Bowl XL and I still hear Seahawks fans bitching about it. Hell I had a flight attendant give me a hard time recently, like somehow the Steelers and Seahawks are rivals. The NFL admitted a mistake and it cost the Steelers a playoff game. Well the three INTs by Ben probably cost them more but it is easier to blame outside forces. But the Steelers have a little class, their coach declined to comment. He didn't go to a pep rally and say "I didn't know we'd have to play the refs as well". Normally coaches get fined for stuff like that but I guess hall of fame caliber coaches don't.

I'm sure the internet full of Steelers fans are bitching, hell I'm bitching a little, but the Steelers organization has a little more class than some teams. That and I'm sure two years later we're still not going to be complaining about it.

No Loss

At least the Braves won't lose tonight. There are better ways to start the season than 0-2 but at least the starting pitching is good and the hitting is better than average. Now if they get the defense better and a little good bullpen play it might be a good season.

Stupid Xavier Nady

Man the Braves better fix their defense if they hope to actually win a game this year. That and they should have know that Xavier Nady is a first month or so fantasy beast. I don't know why I forget this every year.
