Happy Valentine's Day
Still I do like this day. Eleven years ago my beautiful wife said the one word that change our lives forever, "Yes!"
She was still living at home (we're young now 31 and 29 and about to celebrate our 10th anniversary, we got hitched young) and had done something to piss her parents off. We hadn't really been on many dates around Valentine's Day. I want to say that it was our only date in a month or more, its been a long time. I obviously knew I wanted to ask, I had the ring and everything. I didn't really want to be sappy and ask her on Valentine's Day. The pain in the ass her parents were giving us didn't give me many options so I decided Valentine's Day would be great.
Of course it was great. We've had some really good Valentine's Days and some good birthday/VD combos (my birthday is near VD). This year is a telecommuting Valentine's Day since I'm stuck in the boredom that is bumble Connecticut. There's always next year.
Happy Valentine's Day Pretty Bird, I miss you.

9 Years and Counting

This day...
From about two weeks after we started dating I knew I wanted it and it hasn't changed today, on the eve of our 9th anniversary. Because of our Disney trip I'm not allowed to buy her anything big, at least according to her. We'll have to see about that.

Happy Mother's Day
The other mother in my life, The Little One's mom, actually has to work today. The Little One and I picked her out a nice gift though and are making her a really nice dinner. I think she'll at least end the day on a good note.

14 years later
For fourteen years, ever since it was released, I've hinted to just about anyone that would be in position to buy me a gift that I wanted the Led Zeppelin box set, the complete studio recording one. Sure I could have bought it myself but when I've had an extra $100 I never really think about it. Now my lovely wife has given me the box set for my birthday. Last year Aerosmith in Vegas, this year everything Led Zeppelin has recorded. This is just greatness.

Time
Where exactly does the time go? Eight years ago tonight I was on the eve of starting my new life with my beautiful bride to be. Tonight I spent an hour reading and working on math problems with my beautiful seven year old daughter. I don’t really know where the time goes but I do know that I’ve really enjoyed the ride.

Been Busy
Even with Pretty Bird back we're trying to buy a house so that takes extra time. She is also working a semi-full time job right now so it is a lot of me at home with just the little one. But I want to try and blog on a more regular basis. I enjoy reading everyone else's blog so I should try and update mine more often. I'll even try to write about stuff other than just sports all the time :)
Is it 2006 or 1996, Braves pitchers have the top 3 ERAs in baseball. Oh wait, damn it, Tommy and Maddux aren't with the Braves anymore :( Still look at Mad Dog and his 0.99 ERA.
Pretty Bird and I are watching West Wing last night and Alan Alda's name is still in the credits, which wasn't exactly odd since it has been for the entire year even when he wasn't in the episode. But with the election happening already and a few episodes left I knew they weren't done with him yet. So without any other information I inform Pretty Bird that Santos is going to ask him to be the VP. It turns out I was correct, yea me! Just another thing in the long line of things that proves despite how good West Wing is it is still fiction. It was great to see Sam again.
Of all the TV shows I'm probably going to miss West Wing the most. It isn't my favorite show, not by far, but it is the one who I've felt I've known the characters the best. When the show was on, which has been plenty over the last 7 years, I've really felt that while watching that they were real characters. Good bye President Barlett.
24 tonight, Jack's gotta get his killin' on.
Did I mention Maddux has a 0.99 ERA, wtf!!

Telemarketing Gone Wild
1 - Have a telemarketer call your house during the day. Have your wife answer the phone and ask "Is Trevor there". My wife says no, then wants to know what the person wants. The young woman on the phone then explains that she is with "Girls Gone Wild" and wants to know if I would like a free copy of their latest video.
Or
2 - My wife tells the person on the phone that no I would not like a copy of of their latest video.
We've never bought anything from the GGW people, not that I haven't seen a video or two. We also, at least I thought, were on the no-call list for telemarketers. We've only given our home phone number out to my job, her job, the little one's school, and DirectTV. We only have a home phone because of DirectTV. I've worked as a project manager for a telemarket company before, I even started for a day or two on the phones so I know that the 'no-call' list isn't paid much attention to. If a client has your number you're going to get called, at least until the specific telemarket firm gets a "please do not call here again" response. Our phone is also listed in the phone book, so I'm sure it isn't that hard to get our number. It just is very odd, makes for a good story though.
One thing, I work in marketing and have for over four years now. One of the most important things is to know your potential consumer. Calling someone during the day is probably not the best directed marketing. It is 2006, I know women work, keep your feminist opinions to yourself. However the odds of getting a 29 year old male at home at 2pm is much lower than getting that same 29 year old male at home at 7pm. The odds are also much higher to get a wife and I would think that for the Girls Gone Wild people that would not be very good.
Of course now I've said Girls Gone Wild at least three or four times, I wonder how the Ad Sense will take that.

Bond can't save me from the French
I must thank JDub for some dumb ass rambling he had on his blog about a friend of his convincing him to watch two movies he hadn’t seen. Now Pretty Bird pawned the idea as her own and is going to try and get me to watch two movies she loves that I have absolutely no interest in seeing. It is going to be either some French movie subtitled about an artist or something who is persecuted and the world just doesn’t understand him or something along those lines. I dislike movies about the French, movies with subtitles, or movies about a persecuted artist and this will have all of them. It will be either that or some not funny British comedy. I don’t like British comedies because I prefer my comedies to actually be funny. Bring on the jokes about the dead birds or whatever.
Thanks JDub, all you had to do was watch a few Bond movies and none of this would have happened.
